Tara Schalk - President
My relationship with Galloway started on the 16 May 2008, when our then 11 month old son, attended Galloway for the very first time. As a new Mum I found the experience traumatic, and sometimes to the point of being unbearable, but I was always comforted by the caring and dedicated staff. Like many of you I would drop Ty off in the morning, get absorbed in my days work, pick him up in the afternoon, and not even give a thought to how Galloway operated. I was safe in the knowledge that he was being cared for. As parents we play an essential role in the care of our children - we operate Galloway through a Board of Directors. It is this Board that makes all the major decisions with respect to the operation of Galloway. Without this Board, Galloway would be forced to close their doors and our children would be left without care. I would ask that you take a moment to consider becoming a Director and helping us to invest in our children's future. It only takes an hour a month. I encourage you to contact us if you have any concerns or suggestions on how we may improve Galloway.
When I'm not being President I'm playing Mum to our 4 year old son Ty. He is challenging, frustrating, demanding and funny, and when he looks up at me and says, "I love you Mummy," I know it has all been worthwhile. He is an adrenaline junkie and gives me a heart attack at least several times a day with his antics. We love pushbike riding, attending Mini Minstrels and meeting our friends in the park to play.
In my spare time I am a Senior Natural Resource Officer with the NSW Office of Water. My role is to develop, write and implement policy for the management of water in NSW. I have been with this Department for 11 years and find the position challenging and rewarding.
On a more personal note, I was born in Armidale and grew up in Uralla. I attended the University of New England and then left my home town to pursue my passion for squash and my career. I have lived in Moruya, West Wyalong and Moree, and have travelled the world. I love reading, writing, flying, spending time with my family and playing squash.
As President of Galloway I want to work with you all to ensure that Galloway remains a great childcare centre and that our children have the best start to their young lives
